Indonesian resort Samara Lombok secures investment, to open in 2028

The project will also be the very first Destination by Hyatt property in Southeast Asia. In May 2025, Hyatt announced that Samara Lombok would certainly join its portfolio of Indonesian real estates through a franchise contract with the developer. Buyers can choose from 12 villa designs ranging from two- to five-bedders, with building schedules of 15 to 18 months.

Eventually, Samara Lombok’s villas will certainly be increased to 500. Residents and guests at the property development will have access to 12 restaurants, a club, an aquatic biology and water sports hub, a tennis academy with tennis and padel courts, along with a football training centre.

Samara Lombok is led by Erik Barreto, Steve Ebsworth and Tom Wheeler. The project has secured a “substantial” investment from Westgrove– a multi-family workplace with workplaces in London, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur– which will advance Samara Lombok’s final phase of development.

Lombok, that neighbours Bali, has steadily acquired popularity over the last few years. The island is expected to see further expansion, backed by support from the Indonesian government. Mandalika, an area in South Lombok, has been recognized as a brand-new tourist hub, with around US$ 3 billion ($3.81 billion) in public financial investments being poured into a brand-new Special Economic Zone that includes infrastructural improvements, new resorts and a racing circuit.
